April 20th Day 1 What a great start to our journey, woken by rain but it soon stopped in time for us to assemble at Peter Warren Ford. Two cars didn't make the start, one had fuel problems and the other missed the turn and went the wrong way. After a good morning tea and some tearfull good bye's we left Warwick Farm and headed north. Our American Guests had a lot of truble with their car misbehaving but after an emergency stop at Jim McKerns home, the problem was found and rectified. Had lunch with other club members at Brooklyn then North to Karuah for our first night camping, very wet ground - had a nice BBQ Dinner then received an emergency call from one member who had taken a wrong turn and ended  up in a paddock, one four wheel drive and a tow rope fixed this problem quickly and all was well at the end of day one.
April 21st Day 2, Another wet start but spirits were high, on the road by 8:30 joined by Newcastle member Bob Hawke, short trip to Buladelah for morning tea and a nice fresh cake from the bakery. On to Taree for Lunch, no major hitches today. After lunch drove on to Port Macquarie where several members were caught by the local NBN 9TV crew and interviewed, Later the local newspaper arrived at the caravan park and took some photos. Local club members came and took us to dinner at the local Golf Club, Graet food and Great company, Rain looks like it might be easing off for the night.
April 22nd Day 3 More rain to start the day off, packed up wet and headed for Kempsey , Rain eased throughout the morning no problems with the cars this morning, Gill reported a broken cam follower and has stayed with Stan Bruce in Moorland to do the repairs. Stopped for Lunch at the Big banana in Coffs Harbour, after lunch we made our way towards the blue sky and Grafton, set up our camp in sunshine for the first time. Had a great bar-b-que tea and good gossip about the days travel. All Campers using the sun to dry out everything. Looking forward to a short trip tomorrow in the sunshine.
April 23rd Day 4 - Good start to the morning all up early and packed up in the dry, Filled up with fuel for the days run then out of town and onto the country highway. Lots of single lane road and lots of BIG trucks, managed to let them through as often as possible. Stopped for morning tea on the side of the road and it started to rain so back on the road and straight through to Byron Bay. Arrived at the Lighthouse around 2:30 pm and waited till all T's arrived then we were allowed to park around the light house for a group photo. TV and Newspapers did not turn up so we entertained the tourists for a while then headed for our digs for the night at Suffolk Park, a nice hot shower and a home cooked meat then sat around and told lies for a while!
April 24th Day 5 - Rest Day -  had a day off today just sat around and serviced he cars NBN 9 finally cought up with us and took a few pictures for the evening news, took a walk on the beautiful pristine beach and had a really relaxing time. Our broken down member still back in Moorland, but parts on their way and should be back on the road soon.
April 25th Day 6 A great sunny day for our drive to Brisbane, the group will split today to visit friends and relatives around the city. Paul Wood is staying back in NSW to register his caravan on tuesday and will catch us up. Gill and Laraine have fixed their broken cam follower and made it to Coffs Harbour but now the engine is knocking. The Millers, McKerns, Wilsons and Rowland Hulbert are staying in tweed for Friday and Saturday. All other cars going well with no major problems. We are a little concerned about one member who opened his clothes to take out some socks and opered a pair of Fishnet stockings!!! Is there something we don't know?
April 26th Day 7 Rest Day in Brisbane nothing to report
April 27th Day 8

Beautiful sunny morning forecast 29 degrees and it exceeded this.  Broke camp at Kirra Beach, McKerns, Millers, Wilsons, Woods and myself.  Sent the Model T's off on their merry way giving them 1 hour start as I was in modern. Talked to the Woods as they had to stay there until Tuesday as caravan rego due.
The only problem on the day was the McKerns took a wrong turn north of Brisbane and took longer then expected reaching the lunch stop. Arrived at Caboolture caught up to the rest of the group and the Queensland Model T group who put on an excellent luncheon followed by dessert all home made by the ladies - so much for watching the calories!
Said our goodbyes, still won't be a full group tonight as people are still staying with friends and relatives and the rest of us drove to Caloundra staying at a nice caravan park at Dicky's Beach named after the ship wreck of which bones still sit on the beach, the SS Dicky.

Roland Hulbert

April 28th Day 9

The usual bird alarm sounded at Dicky Beach.  Some early risers saw the sun come up and Roland saw more than he bargained for under the shower near the surf club.  Flat Stanley went down to check out the wreck of the Dicky and the surf.
With pack up completed the McKerns, Millers and Wilson were ready to roll. A very excited older camper was able to ride with Bob to the gate for a $10 donation to the RFDS, next was the obligatory stop at the service station to re fuel. On the road to Gympie we met up with Richard and enjoyed a morning tea break at the Ginger Factory.  Bob's car fuel problems allowed us to meet the locals.  Just short of Gympie we took a right turn to Tin Can Bay.  Tonight we are only missing Glen, Laraine, Gil, Stan, Paul and Barbara.

Margaret Wilson

April 29th Day 10

What a beautiful day, a little cool this morning but after waking up to the sound of hundreds of birds you felt great!
Off to the point to see the dolphins being fed at 7.30am most walked the 10 minute walk. Ann-Marie & Jim drove because of Ann's "little toe". The dolphins were fed pieces of fish which you had to purchase for a donation first, then rolled trousers or pants up, walked into the water and the dolphin took the fish from your hand.
On returning to the caravan park it was time to get stuck into minor repairs to various T's. As we ladies know, this is such fun for the fellas! Bob Wilson & Roland took off to do a spot of fishing leaving a disappointed Margaret behind (she loves fishing).
Some of us shopped, some slept and others found bits to do to enjoy the day.
Cooled down this afternoon, jackets on and time to prepare dinner. Something other than BBQ's tonight for many.
Margaret baby sat Toebee whilst we did some shopping. He has been well exercised and is having a great time.

Doreen & Geoff Smith

April 30th Day 11

Another great day in the making with a cool morning in Tin Can Bay. Today it was decided by all to take a ferry ride to Carlos Point, part of the great Sandy Strait National Park. Some dolfin watching was done on the ride, on our return to Tin Can Bay it was a short pleasant trip to Maryborough of 70 Klm through wooded forests.

All arrived safe meeting up with Paul Woods who had to stay a few extra days in NSW so he could get his caravan registered.

Jim & Ann Maree McKern

We would also like to thank Annie Cartwright of ABC Productions in Tin Can Bay, for the DVD Slideshow she made of our cars which has been sent to the club for viewing at the  next meeting.

May 1st Day 12

Today we put our cars on display at the Ford dealership in Marybotough, fistly because they were celebrating 100 years in business and secondly it was free parking close to the street market. several members went on a guided historical tour, Maryborough has a fascinating history as a major port and world war II history. Returned to camp site to maintain the cars and relax.

May 2nd Day 13

Left Maryborough early for our journey towards Rockhampton - Stopped at Childers for morning tea then onto Gin Gin for lunch. After lunch we left for Mirium Vale but Gary came to an abrupt stop about 15 klm north after making a bad gear change just before the crest of a hill. A nasty sound was coming from the car and had to be towed back to Gin Gin. On closer inspection it was decided that the problem was in the diff, as it was getting late we decided to wait until the morning to dismantle the car. The Whittles and Richard stayed with Gary while the others continued on north to Mirium Vale for the night.

Gil and Laraine and Stan called to say they would be in Budaberg that night we are all getting together at last.

May 3rd Day 14

The main group continued thier northerly trek to Rockhampton and sett up camp at the southern caravan park. Gary, Richard and Ian continued to work on the diff, borrowed a floor jack from the local tyre man and dropped the diff out of the car, took out the pinion and that was fine looked into the diff and saw the crown wheel and the hemisphere were both bent and cracked. we then searched for parts to fix Gary's car, after many phone calls and much walking around we found a diff less than 50 metres away. We stripped the diff and were able to salvage the hemisphere, a local man then gave us the name of a gentleman in Bundaberg who had a model T, gary rang him and he had some crown wheels so we arranged to get them picked up and an hour later we were on the way to repairing the diff. Gill and Laraine had picked up the parts and joined us for the night along with Stan Bruce. Richard, Ian and Gary re-assembled the diff and had it ready to install but ran out of daylight, so we cooked a nice dinner and ate by candlelight.

May 4th Day 15

The main group Jim Mckern, the Millers, Smiths, Roland Hulbert and the Wilsons met up with the Rockhampton car club and had a great lunch all supplied by their hosts, Win TV and the local papers also caught up with them for interviews and photos.

Back in Gin Gin Gary's car was being re-assembled and was all back together by 10:30, we broke camp and filled up with fuel then headed north to Mirium Vale. On arrival we decided to continue on to Rockhampton to catch up with the main group. We arrived at 4:30pm at a caravan park 15 klm south of ocky, where the Smiths were camped and arranged to work on Ian Whittles car the next day

May 5th Day 16  (Gary's Birthday)

Sight seeing day for the main group looking around Rocky and the surrounding area, Ian Whittle needed to remove his rear spring and add an extra main leaf, we managed this with help from Geoff Smith, Richard and a local car enthusiast who offered his workshop and a good floor jack. The work was finished by lunchtime and the rest of the day was shopping for supplies, and general car maintenance. Had a baked dinner and an ice-cream cake for Gary's Birthday dinner - a good time was had by all.

May 6th Day 17

Broke camp early and headed into Rockhampton to the Botanical Gardens, the gardens were nice but really run down, also attached was a tiny zoo in great need of love and care but I love zoo’s so I was happy.

After this we headed off north again and decided to go into the Capricorn Caves , which was very pleasant with kangargoo’s just lazing around and even had joeys in their pouches.  The cave tour was OK. After lunch we headed off again and Gary turned right onto what he thought was the Bruce Highway but it was the old Highway so we just ambled along until we saw a turnoff to the Bruce Highway and took that with 12kms of gravel thrown in for good measure, it was just great.

Pulled into Marlborough for afternoon tea, this town was approx 6kms off the highway and had a museum which the boys just loved and a nice little craft store with fantastic things in it, after a late afternoon tea and hand feeding the rainbow loraket we left at 4pm for an hours trip to St Laurence.

We arrive at St Lawance at 5.15pm and went into the show ground where lots of other campers and caravaners were set up, we quickly drew the crowds whilst we were setting up but can’t complain as it is free and the amenities are fantastic and if you want a shower it will cost you $1.00 so for a nights accommodation it cost us $2.00.

Doreen and Geoff went off into town and we all had fish and chips for tea, sitting at a picnic table in the middle of the showgrounds with are candles.

May 7th Day 18

Awoke bright and early again to the sounds of birds chirping it was lovely watching the sun come up and hitting the mountains in the distant.  Gary and Richard dined well this morning with cereal and egg on toast.

We headed off at 8.30am and went into Carmila for morning tea which was not as nice as I thought the beaches would be, the sand was light brown and the tide was out and they were large clumps of grey clay which looked like rock from a distant.  Picked up a few nice shells but had to restrain ourselves.

From here we headed off to Sarina for lunch which was a large little town as I would say and we enjoyed meat pies and sauce sitting in the middle of the road (towns up here seem to have large median strips down the middle with tables and chairs for the comfort of people).

Arrived in Mackay approx 2.30pm and headed to the Information centre to check out what's what. Headed off to Coles to fill up on supplies, then into the caravan park the night.

May 8th Day 19.

We needed to be up bright and early as Gary wanted to get a bracket fitted to the muffler. From here Richard, Gary & I  headed up to the mountains to hopefully see the Platypus at Broken River .

We had morning tea at Mirian beside a very large river with trickling water it was very pleasant, after this we headed up the mountains.

The sign up said steep well they were not kidding, Gary started to hick up and after we stopped for a minute Gary asked if I could walk up so silly me said OK.  BIG MISTAKE after huffing and puffing for approx 5 minutes when two farmers in a truck stopped and asked if I wanted a lift to the top so here was brave me sitting in the back of the ute with the dog and buckets of sand going up this hill, finally caught up to Gary and Richard nearly 3/4 ‘s up the hill, Gary was on the side and decided to top up the radiator and Richard checked the fuel filter and made it a bit bigger, when all this was done the farmers left and I went with Richard whilst Gary went extremely snail pace around the two most angled corners. Finally reached the top and breathed a sigh of relief and headed off to lunch at the look out and were lucky enough to share our table with a bush turkey. This spot was perfect and you could see down thru the mountains nearly to the sea (we are approx 80kms inland), as we were leaving a group of school children on an excursion arrived and were thrilled with the cars.

We headed off to Broken River to hopefully see the Platypus and enjoyed a lovely walk along the river bank.  At the viewing platform we were lucky to see 16 turtles just floating in the water their backs covered in moss, it was just lovely. Just about to leave and a small platypus surfaced and dived over and over again as it neared us how fantastic to see nature like this.

We have come to the Eungella Caravan Park which is nestled at the top and between two mountains looking straight down the valley to nearly Mackay 80 klm away– how wonderful.

We are off to the local pub for tea tonight

May 9th Day 20

Another beautiful start to the day, we started with a steep decent down the mountain in low gear for the first two kms, then back into Mackay to met up with the Whittles and Smiths at the Tourist Information. We decided to go to see the Pub at Eimeo with its fantastic views to the islands. From here we headed towards Proserpine and made a short stop at Kuttabul to visit the other members of the tour. Then it was back in the cars for Richard, Gary & Marilyn to find a camp for the night, we stopped at O'Conell River Caravan Park where the owner was a member of the local car club. The Smiths traveled on towards Bowen for the night so they could go to the Garage sales on Saturday.

May 10th Day 21

A slightly overcast morning followed a nice warm night, after breaky we all packed up and went to visit a club member Philip Taylor and his wife Colleen at their cane farm near Prosser Pine. Philip had a 1924 Roadser and the bones of a 1915 tourer, he also had a great collection of stationary engines for which he fabricated new flywheels etc. He also had a huge lathe which he bolted model T Blocks and heads to - to machine them (in the chuck). From here Richard, Gary and Marilyn set on for Bowen for lunch then onto Ayr so Richard could meet with his grandchildren. The others made their way towards Bowen for the night. No incidents to report, the driving is very boring with no change to the scenery for hundreds of klm.

Atfer many farewells and even more photos, we reluctantly left Peter and Narelle of Jolimont Caravan Park, 40 kms north of Mackay.  It was a great park nestled between cane fields and a beautiful creek. Peter and Narelle were great hosts and good fun.  They allowed and assisted us to work on our cars.  We had a good trip to Bowen, stopping at the Big Mango to farewell the Mc Kerns, Whittles and Millers who were to stay the night with Brian and June Phillips, from the Whitsunday Car Club.  Brian's Morris was in the Movie "Australia" filmed in the Bowen area  and starring Nicole Kidman and Russel Crowe. Brian and June showed us where the filming was done and the sights of Bowen.  We were amazed at the view from Flagstaff and enjoyed a yummy afternoon tea.  Bob raised another $20 for the RFDS taking someone for a lap around the restaurant!  The murals that Bowen is known for, were terrific and our T's were photographed alongside them!
Roland, the Woods and the Wilsons stayed in town at the Harbour Lights park opposite the marina enjoying the cool breeze and peace of the area.
May 11th Day 22

Mothers Day - Both groups left their base and headed for Townsville, The Smiths and Amesbury's went to the local Markets first, Richard stayed with his grandchildren for an extra day. After an uneventful day we arrived in Townsville, the Smiths and Amesbury's stopped in a free site at the BP Truckstop and were later joined by the Whittles and Richard. Group two arrived a little later and went directly to a caravan park for the night. All cars and members well and on schedule.

May 12th Day 23

Today we took in the sights of Townsville, driving up to the lookout on the top of Castl
